Erosion & Sediment Control Installation

Typically, before any site construction can take place, erosion and sediment control features are installed to satisfy the site plan requirements and prevent problems with stormwater runoff from construction activities. We are Erosion and Sediment Control Specialists. Several staff members (seventeen in total) are Responsible Land Disturbers (RLDs) certified through the Department of Conversation and Recreations’ Stormwater Management Program. In addition, a clean worksite enhances other construction activities.

In 2007, Bruce Howard Contracting was awarded the John Schied Erosion Control Award in recognition for outstanding performance during installation and maintenance of Erosion and Sediment Control measures. This was the first award given to a Contractor for erosion and sediment control implementation in Fauquier County.

Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection
Let us be your third-party erosion and sediment inspector. Our inspectors are certified through the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Stormwater Compliance Program. Our experienced staff can provide you third-party reviews of installed erosion and sediment control measures per the Virginia Stormwater Management Permit (VSMP) requirements.

Road Construction

From temporary access roads through the most difficult terrain to permanent roads built to VDOT standards, Bruce Howard Contracting can build it. We have installed temporary timber matting and bridges as well as pre-engineered bridge structures providing safe and environmentally friendly access to those hard-to-reach project sites. In addition, we are an approved Prequalified VDOT Contractor.

Stream Restoration and Stabilization

Excavation & Grading

We have the right equipment for large-scale acreage, whether it’s wholesale timber removal or selectively removing one dangerous tree with ropes and rigging. Our equipment fleet includes our Morbark 3600 grinder, as well as environmentally-friendly mulching equipment mounted to tractors, excavators, and skidsteers. We operate three licensed material disposal facilities to handle a variety of construction debris.
